Portfolio Guidelines

Required Enclosures, Appropriate Format, and Evaluation Criteria

I. Your work from this semester:

  1. Include the two best full-length essays that you have written this semester.

  2. Include all graded drafts and plans as well as the corresponding rubrics, placing the most recent revision on top. Create two separate clusters, one for each writing assignment. Place the cluster of documents that represents your best essay on top.

II. Comments on your work:

  1. In a paragraph explain why you have chosen the top essay as your best. Be sure to frame your comments in terms of how you dealt with your audience, focused your thesis, arranged your ideas, developed your main point, and edited your text. Through your explanation, make clear to your reader your understanding of what makes a good essay. This paragraph should be placed on top of your best essay.
